Mixed fortunes for SPCC's U12s on Monday, but both performances were strong even if one side did not get the result it sought.

The OYO team made the short trip to Henfield and shook off any lingering blues after the prior week's defeat against Brighton and Hove, with a crisp performance that merited the win. Henfield were limited to 66-8 off 20 overs, helped by wickets from Kit, Gus, Conor and Charlie, as well as three for Keian and a direct-hit run out from Blake. The fielding looked sharp and energetic. SPCC then swept to 67-1 off 10.5 overs, helped by a good opening stand between Charlie (13*) and Marko, before Keian swooped to clatter an unbeaten 28.

On the home front, an inexperienced Pairs team gave as good as it got in a friendly with Preston Nomads. The visitors were restricted to 260-8 off their 20 overs by some good backing up and catching in the field (as if to magically prove the value of those drills at training). Ed and Callum got run outs from direct hits, Angus snagged two catches and Seb, Caleb, Archie and Ben all got among the wickets, while Miles did well behind the stumps.

Batting proved difficult against some tight bowling as SPCC were undone by spinner Shaffie who grabbed six wickets off his three overs and the innings closed at 232-12. Angus (18*) top-scored in a good partnership with Ben while Miles and Seb also got into double-figures after some lusty hitting.
