The Immortal Bard had it right when he noted how "rough winds do shake the darling buds of May" and it felt more like Siberia and Sussex as SPCC U12s took on St James Montefiore on Monday. Ultimately the home side proved too strong, scoring 98-1 off 15 overs against St Peters 97-2.
Credit goes to all of the team for playing so well, especially in the frigid conditions. Charlie (28*) and Gus provided a strong opening partnership once more while Keian (14) and Jimmy (13*) kept the scoreboard ticking over.
St James Montefiore batted very well in reply as Tom scooped up the only wicket, with the help of a terrific catch from Theo, who kept extremely well throughout and credit must be given to all of the bowlers, especially those who dutifully trooped up the hill AND into the wind (Keian, Dylan, Benjy, Harry, Gus).
