For those who don’t know, hybrid wickets combine a natural grass wicket with specialist synthetic fibres, that are ‘stitched’ into the surface. This reinforcement significantly strengthens the wicket, allows for a more consistent bounce, whilst still playing like a traditional grass wicket.

The main benefits include:
- On average, 3x higher wear resistance, in comparison to a typical grass wicket.
- More consistent and increased bounce.
- Faster recovery between matches, allowing us to play up to 12 matches on each hybrid wicket per season.
- By playing many more games on the hybrids, this takes significant pressure off the remaining grass wickets, which should see their performance level improve.
- The wicket is still composed of 95% natural grass, so they play like a traditional wicket.

There has been one installed on the middle of each square, which means both squares should see significant improvement, and they will be match ready for the start of the season!

This should be a major step forward in the standard of our pitches, and we can’t wait to see them in action in less than two months!
