1. Welcome

Welcome to St Peter’s Cricket Club! If you are into cricket, either as a new joiner or as an existing member, then you are in the right place: St Peter’s is a thriving club based right in the heart of Brighton and our core ethos remains: more cricket, for more people, more often.

You can find information here about our adult men's sides ranging from the First XI to the T20 XIs and updates about training.

League Cricket - Saturdays
We enter 6 teams into the Sussex Cricket League, with the newest of the teams, the Sixth XI, added in 2022. In recent years the First XI has been very competitive, winning Division 4 East for a second time in 2025. Following their success in the August Cup in 2020, the First XI made it to the Final at the end of the 2021 season at the County Ground in the SCL T20 Cup. 2021 also saw the Third XI win Division 9 East and gain further promotion into Division 7 East for 2024. The Fourth XI has gained promotions in 2020 and 2023 from Division 11 up to Division 9 Central. 2025 saw these successes continue with the 2nd XI gaining promotion up to Division 5 East. In both 2024 and 2023 the 6th XI achieved the runners-up spot in their division.

Friendly Cricket - Sundays
For those players not able to play on Saturdays, wanting to get back into some form for league cricket or perhaps have not played for a while and are looking for a way back into the action, then the Sunday friendly side is the perfect place for that. 2024 also saw the debut of the Sunday Development XI - a team that gives Juniors a chance to get their first taste of adult cricket and newcomers to cricket a gentle introduction to our great sport.

T20 competitions
A new T20 competition (comprising 3 tiers - the Cup, Trophy and Plate) was launched by the Sussex Cricket League in 2019 and St Peter's entered 4 teams into the competition in 2025.

2024 also saw the debut of the St Peter's Saints, our new Sussex Slam team. The Slam is a mid-week T20 competition and this is the first year that we have entered a team. The Slam offers three tiers of competition (the Cup, the Plate and the Trophy), meaning that every level of recreational player can participate in matches befitting their standard and needs.

Subs / Match fees
In 2026 the annual membership subscription is £145 (£115 for those in full-time education) - this is reviewed annually at the AGM - and this is due to be paid via the Pitchero app by no later than March 31st.

Match fees will also be collected via the Pitchero app and are to be paid within 24 hours of the end of the game.

You will only be considered for selection if your subs and match fee payments are up to date.

Training
2026 Indoor nets continue on Tuesdays until March 23rd. These take place at the Aldridge Cricket Academy at BACA from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Please contact Neil Matthews, our Director of Senior Cricket for details.

Outdoor nets are scheduled to start after Easter at the Velodrome and continue until the end of the summer season. Times have not been finalised yet but were as follows in 2025 and are dependent on the light and the weather (do check your WhatsApp groups to see if training is cancelled):-

Tuesdays 6:30 to 7:30 pm – 4th XI, 5th XI and 6th XI men's teams

Thursdays 6:30 to 7:30 pm – 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI men's teams

In addition to the organised net sessions, you do have the opportunity to go along to the club ground and use the outdoor nets and artificial batting strips whenever you can, so please feel free to make use of those facilities.

Welfare
In light of the events at Yorkshire CCC, and the report from the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC), we have an updated Whistleblowing Policy to accompany the club Code of Conduct and the St Peter’s Way, both of which remind everyone of their responsibilities when it comes to making St Peter’s CC an inclusive, welcoming and fun place to enjoy cricket, for players of all levels of commitment and ability, and for parents, carers and spectators, too.

You can find the Code of Conduct on Pitchero, in the clubhouse on the noticeboards, and our Facebook page and we will be looking to all players and parents to be aware of it and conduct themselves accordingly. Our Club Safeguarding Officer, Juliet Seymour, is also available at any time.

Members are also urged to read the ECB's General Conduct Regulations for Recreational Cricket 2023, paying particular attention to Sections 10 to 13 concerning conduct on social media.

Joining
If you're interested in going along then please get in touch with Club Secretary Martin Coe.
